Clear OS - PPTP VPN Connects but can't access PC's inside LAN

Issue :

Can't access / ping client in same network when connected thru PPTP VPN from public only can ping firewall IP.

Solved :

On the XP machine (works on Vista and 7 also) go to the properties of the VPN connection.

  • Click on the Networking tab and double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

  • Click Advanced and uncheck the box for "Use default gateway on remote network."

This will route all of your local traffic through whatever network you're locally connected to, and any remote traffic through the VPN connection. This also assumes that you're not trying to route your internet traffic through the VPN. If you leave this option set, then you will not be able to access any local network resources without manually specifiying routes to get to them

ClearOS by ClearFoundation

ClearOS is a powerful network and gateway server designed for small organizations and distributed environments. Though ClearOS comes with an extensive list of features and integrated services (see sidebar), the solution is easy to configure thanks to the intuitive web-based interface.

Distribution Timeline

We are old friends to open source.  At ClearFoundation, our team has been together for nearly 10 years with over 118,000 registered systems in the field.  ClearOS is based upon RedHat / CentOS Linux and has been developed over time by diligent developers with tons of customer feedback.  In 2005, we incorporated several elements of CentOS to the benefit of the solution.  We are excited about what the future will bring with new resources, developers, and partners in the future!

The OpenSource and Free

The open source revolution in the software industry has made it possible to provide ClearOS at no cost.  Among other features, antivirus, antispam, VPN and content filtering are built right into the software -- no need for expensive third party add-ons. With ClearOS, you can avoid costly vendor lock-in and proprietary formats; instead, you can embrace open standards and protocols.
